Smart Sub Player — Terms of Use
These terms cover your use of the Smart Sub Player app. By installing or using the app, you agree to them.
01 Your licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Smart Sub Player on devices you own or control.
02 What the app is
Smart Sub Player is a personal-use media player and file manager. You bring your own video files (via the Files app, AirDrop, Photos, or the document share sheet) or paste a direct link to a video you already have the right to save. The app generates AI subtitles on your device and plays your media. It is a convenience tool, not a media source.
03 You are responsible for what you save
You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to save and view any file you import or download through the paste-link gateway. Do not use the paste-link feature to save content you do not have the right to, or to circumvent the access controls of any service. We do not host, index, or reference specific third-party platforms in the app. A copyright takedown contact is published on the privacy page.
04 Subscriptions & Pro
Smart Sub Player offers a single "Pro" entitlement with weekly, monthly, and yearly auto-renewing subscriptions (monthly and yearly include a 7-day free trial where eligible) and a one-time Lifetime unlock. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends. Manage or cancel anytime in your Apple ID Subscriptions. Free-tier use is limited to a fixed number of subtitle generations per week. Refunds are handled by Apple per the standard App Store refund policy.
05 Optional bring-your-own-key services
If you enable cloud translation and provide your own provider API key (for example Gemini or OpenRouter), your use of that provider is governed by the provider's own terms. You are responsible for your API key and any charges it incurs. We never receive your key.
06 Acceptable use
Please don't reverse-engineer, resell, or redistribute the app, or use it in any unlawful way. The app, its name, design, and content are owned by their operator and protected by applicable law; these terms grant a right to use the app, not ownership of it.
07 No warranty
Smart Sub Player is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. Generated subtitles and translations are produced by on-device AI models and may contain errors; they are a convenience, not a professional or accessibility-grade transcript. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or incidental loss arising from use of, or inability to use, the app.
08 App store terms
Your download is also subject to the terms of the app store you obtained it from (the Apple App Store). Where those terms conflict with these, the store's terms govern the download itself.
09 Changes
We may update these terms as the app evolves. The latest version is always posted here with an updated date. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the revised terms.
